Srinagar, Oct 9 (GNS): Six days after a JCB plunged down along the Srinagar-Leh highway near Hung Sonamarg, resulting in retrieval of driver in injuried condition, there was however no trace of the missing conductor despite nearly a week long rescue operation going on along the area.
Officials told GNS that the rescue operation entered day 6 on Saturday with the searches extended from the incident spot – Hung – upto Kullan which encompasses an area of nearly ten kilometers. However no trace whatsoever of the missing conductor could be found so far, they said.
The rescue teams have been doing every bit and it seems that it may take some more time or days to say till the missing person is located, they added.
Pertinent to mention here that an excavator carrying two persons Shahid Ahmad Gasi of Guzhama Genderbal –Driver – and Irfan Ahmad of Wakura Ganderbal – Conductor – plunged into river Sindh on September 4. While the driver was rescued on the same day and taken to PHC Sonamarg for treatment, the conductor however went missing, following which an operation was launched to trace him. (GNS)
