Srinagar, Dec 13 (GNS): At least five persons wanted in a high-profile murder case and a dacoity incident at Gandhi Nagar, have been nabbed by police, ADGP Jammu sharing details said on Monday.

Addressing a presser, the top police officer Mukesh Singh, as per a statement to GNS, said that on 7th of December 2022, a dacoity took place in the house of Rakesh Aggarwal, resident of Gandhi Nagar, where 10 masked men wearing police uniform, of which five had come with weapons and reportedly looted 15 lakh at the gun point and had kept the entire family and domestic helpers hostage for 5 long hours.

“In this regard case FIR no 310 u/S 395, 452,120-B IPC and 3/25 IAA was registered in Police station Gandhi Nagar and investigation was set into motion”, he said.

“Working on various leads and technical intelligence gathered during the investigation, the police team was able to identify the locality in Shastri Nagar from where the dacoits started on foot for the commission of the crime. Some more evidence was gathered and one person namely Harjinder Singh, son of Jasvir Singh, resident of Badiana, Jalandhar Punjab was arrested yesterday”, he said.

“It transpired during the investigation that the main conspirator is Amit Rana, a resident of Delhi and while following Amit Rana, it was gathered that he was duping people in Jammu by various means and finally, a lead was gathered regarding his movement in general area of marble market Jammu, he said adding for nabbing the accused, different teams were formed by SSP Jammu and in the general area of marble market during along chase, the accused namely Amit Rana fired upon police party but he was overpowered and finally nabbed by the police party.

“A case under relevant section has been registered in the Channi Himmat police station. During his questioning, he admitted having hatched a conspiracy at the instance of a few persons to barge into the house of Rakesh Aggarwal and from there call Nagar Singh so that he could be eliminated. For this purpose, he had tied up with one criminal; namely Manjeet Singh@ fouji, resident of Dasua who managed a gang of 09 persons so as to give effect to this incident, but they could not get Nagar Singh to this house. They looted approximately 10 lakhs and left the house at around 12 noon.”

“During sustained questioning of the conspirator, the Police team got apprehensive regarding his name, address and other particulars. His address mentioned in his Aadhar card was checked and it was found to be false. So he was using a forged aadhar card. Further questioning led to his confession that he is duping his identity and his actual name is Harpreet Singh Khalsa, a resident of Digiana Jammu. After this, Police team got more apprehensive and finally it came to fore that he is the main accused in Sardar Tarlochan Singh murder case of 2021 in which FIR was registered in Delhi. Delhi Police had issued a hue & cry notice, so as to make his arrest”, the top police officer said.

The arrests, as per the police officer made so far include; Harpreet Singh @ Amit Rana, son of Lt. Paramjeet Singh, resident of C-35 Hanuman Road Connaught Place New Delhi A/P 684 Digiana Jammu, Manjeet Singh, son of Surinder Singh, resident of Ralhan Tehsil Dasuya District Hoshiarpur Punjab, Harjinder Singh, son of Jasvir Singh, resident of Badayana, Jalandhar PS Adampur Punjab, Raja Singh @ Raja, son of Gurdev Singh, resident of Panwah Tehsil Dasuya District Hoshiarpur, Punjab and Pinto Singh, son of Lt. Shri Krishan Lal, resident of Abohar Punjab have been arrested so far in the case.

“A Cash amount of around five lakhs, two pistols, live pistol cartridges, six police jersey, ten police caps, mobile phones are recovered so far in the instant case”, have been recovered in the instant case so far, informed the police officer.

Mukesh Singh accompanied by the Vivek Gupta appreciated the entire team of Jammu Police led by Chandan Kohli, SSP Jammu including Mamta Sharma, JKPS SP South Jammu, Sachit Sharma SDPO south Jammu, Pankaj Sharma SHO Gandhi Nagar and the entire team who was actively involved and was working day in and day out on this case.
