LeT Hybrid militant, 3 associates arrested in Baramulla, Budgam: Police

Srinagar, June 21(GNS): Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a Hybrid militant of Lashkar-e -Toiba in Juhama area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Three alleged associates of the outfit were arrested in Budgam, police said.  

“At around 1600 hours, joint parties of Police and Army’s 52 RR was conducting naka checking near Juhama Crossing. The party observed suspicious movement of one unknown person who was coming towards Kanispora,” a police spokesperson said in a statement to GNS. “On seeing naka party the individual tried to flee from the spot. However, (he) was tactfully apprehended by the naka party.”

Up on interrogation, he said, the individual disclosed his identity as Shahid Ahmad Parray son of Ghulam Ahmad Parray of Kathpora Hajin, District Bandipora.

“On personal search, 1 Pistol, 1 magazine, 07 rounds & 2 hand grenades were receovered”, he said.

“The militant on further interrogation disclosed that he was working as a hybrid militant for LeT,” he said.

Meanwhile Police claimed to have busted a LeT militant module by arresting three associates in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

“Police along with 53 RR and 181 Bn CRPF busted a militant module of outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba by arresting 03 militant associates,” a police spokesperson said in a separate statement to GNS.

The arrested were identified as Ashiq Hussain Hajam son of Ghulam Mohammmad Hajam of Zuhama Chadoora, Ghulam Mohi Din Dar son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar of Zuhama Chadoora and Tahir Bin Ahmed son of Ghulam Ahmed Hajam of Badipora Chadoora

“Incriminating material of LeT along with one Pistol (Chinese), two magazines, 22 rounds, one AK magazine, AK rounds 30 were recovered from them”, he said.

One TVS  Red colour bike (JK 01N/ 8067) has also been seized in the case(FIR number 114 /2022) at Police Station Chadoora under relevant sections of law, he said.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that arrested militant associates have been involved in transportation of militants, arms/ explosive material & providing logistic support to the militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba in district Budgam,”he said.(GNS)
