Srinagar, Jan 5 (GNS): DDMA on Wednesday issued an ‘avalanche warning’ for higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir in view of the prevailing inclement weather conditions.
“The higher reaches of J&K have received moderate to heavy snowfall and have become vulnerable to avalanches”, a DDMA official told GNS urging people residing in (these) areas to take precautions and avoid venturing out in the (avalanche) prone areas.
Pertinent to mention here that most parts of Kashmir valley have been witnessing light to moderate snowfall past two days even as MeT Department having forecasted for ‘Heavy to Very Heavy Spell’ of snowfall on January 7-8. (GNS)
