Religious Scholars, Mainstream Political Parties Condole Demise

Kupwara, Nov 12 (GNS): Thousands of people on Friday evening converged to participate in the funeral prayers of notable Tablighi Jamaat figure Peer Shams-ud-Din in Kupwara.

Peer Shams-ud-Din, known among his disciples as ‘Peer Sahab’ left for heavenly abode this afternoon at his makeshift accommodation at Masjid Murshideen, after suffering from protracted illness for past several years.

The funeral prayers during which people from far off places converged were led by ‘Ameer-e-Jamaat’ Jammu and Kashmir Ameer Ahmad Khan, known in social circles as Parvaiz Sahab, at Masjid Murshideen with due diligence to Covid-19 protocols. A palpable grief and sorrow filled the ambiance on the eve.

Patron Dar-ul-Uloom Raheemiya, Bandipora, Maulana Rehmatullah extolled Peer Shmas-ud-Din for his contribution as a steadfast and true Muslim.

“Peer Shams-ud-Din was from the lineage of identity of Kashmir Hazrat Molana Anwar Shah Kashmiri (RA) and was himself a scholar and a spiritual personality”, Maulana said.

“He was among the basic members ‘Rukun’ of Dawat-o-Tabligh and given this fact he did a lot of hardwork which ultimately exhibited its effect not only in Kashmir but outside also”, Maulana said.

“He has passed in the way of Allah whilst remaining tied to this land, this Paerwaere (land of sufis and saints), Maulana said adding May Allah give Kashmiris much strength to fill the void, which otherwise has been created in the passing of Peer Sahab.”

Prominent Islamic Scholar Qari Danish paid his rich tributes to the deceased and remembered his services as an astute Tablighi Jamaat member. “Allah accepted him in his way and he did everything possible to take the true message of Allah and Allah’s Messenger (SAW) to the people across the length and breadth, particularly in this region.”

Maulana Muhammad Shafi Makki termed the death of Peer Shmas-ud-Din as colossal loss to the Ummah. “Peer Sahab right from his youthhood upto his last moments served as a true Daee, for which he will be remembered for the times to come”, Makki remarked.

Meanwhile leaders of several mainstream political parties expressed their condolence on the demise and invoked the mercy of Almighty to bestow the soul with eternal solace.

Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party Chairperson Altaf Bukhari termed his demise a personal loss while describing him as an epitome of spirituality, humility and benevolence.

“Peer Sahib had dedicated his whole life for the propagation of Islamic teachings that promoted spirituality, brotherhood and peace. His life was a beacon of light that brought hope and love in the lives of people across the length and breadth of Kashmir. He lived a simple life and was helpful to those in need,” he as per a statement to GNS remarked.

Bukhari said that his demise has left a huge void hard to be filled and he will always be remembered for his altruistic services for times to come.

He said that Peer Sahib’s teachings were aimed at religious awakening and spiritual upliftment among the people and his contribution in this field shall be marked with golden letters in the annals of history.

“Peer Sahib’s demise is a personal loss for me and my family. I extend my heartfelt condolences with the bereaved family members especially Al Haaj Peer Abdur Rashid Sahib in this time of grief. I further pray for the peace to the departed soul and forbearance to the family, associates and acquaintances of Peer Sahib to bear this irreparable loss,” Bukhari further said.

Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti while expressing her condolences described the deceased as an embodiment of spirituality and as someone who lived his life with humility and benevolence.

“News of the demise of Shamsuddin Sahab has pained me. I pray to the almighty to grant him high status in Jannah and give his family and followers strength to bear this irreparable loss,” she said adding Peer sahab will always be remembered for his spiritual guidance and social contributions to the society.”

In a joint statement, several Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leaders led by Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice-president Omar Abdullah expressed their profound grief over the demise of Peer Shams Ud Din Sahib of Lolab, Kupwara, remarking that the deceased was also related to late Hazrat Molana Anwar Shah Kashmiri (RA).

In their condolence message, the father-son duo prayed for peace to the departed and much needed strength to the bereaved. They also expressed unison with the scores of tutees of the deceased and termed the passing away of Peer Sahib, a big loss for the world of Islamic learning and theology.

Recalling his contribution, they said that Peer sahib was instrumental in transforming the lives of numerous students with his ease of illuminating exposition and profundity.

They prayed to the Almighty to bestow the departed soul with the highest echelons in the Jannah.

Among others having condoled the death included Party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Senior leaders Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan, MP Muhammad Akbar Lone, Mir Saifullah, Kafilul Rehman, Javed Dar, Qaisar Jamsheed Lone, Dr Sajad Shafi Uri and spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar.

Meanwhile, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani visited the residence of the bereaved in Kupwara and expressed solidarity with them in their hour of grief. District president Qaisar Jamsheed Lone also participated in the Namaz e Janaza of the deceased along with scores of local party unit functionaries, the statement read further.

Auqaaf-e-Islamia Lalpora Lolab also expressed its deep shock and grief over the demise of Al Haaj Peer Shams-ud-Din.
In their condolence message the Auqaaf members termed the demise a colossal loss while describing him as an epitome of spirituality, humility and benevolence.
