Srinagar, Mar 16: (GNS) Sikh Social Activist Angad Singh Khalsa has flayed Wasim Rizvi over latter’s plea in Supreme Court seeking to read down certain verses from the Holy Scripture of Muslim – Quran.

While talking to Global News Service (GNS), Angad Singh Khalsa, who has been vocal on various social issues for quite a considerable time now, said that the particular petition filed by Wasim Rizvi is a direct attempt to create a communal atmosphere in the country.

Recalling Rizvi as the man who used to made public statements even before the actual verdict into Babri Masjid verdict, Khalsa said that the person has a highly dubious record for making such fallacies time and again.

“I don’t see this man as a Muslim or Shia in anyway, rather a Sanghi, with what he has been up to over a period of time”, he said.

“Even as the BJP is criticizing him now, however fact is that it only has been this party who has supported him all along”, he said adding that “This patronage has actually given him this much courage to file such a plea.”

Remarking that the fundamentals’ of any religion are always held high by the followers of that particular faith, Khalsa said that “as such no court has ever any right to interfere in religious matters.”

“For the fact that Muslims world over believe in the same Quran, it is quite intriguing as what would one achieve by filing such a plea here”, Khalsa said adding that “I feel that if anyone has still any reservations, he should approach it through a proper podium by engaging the scholars of that faith or approach their institutions rather to take a legal route which sounds too irrelevant, particularly in the instant case.”

“The Court should dismiss the petition on the very onset and hold it untenable “, he said.

Elaborating further, Khalsa said that “It is the same Quran on which a armed forces selected candidate is made to take vow, similar to that of a Hindu candidate on Gita and for a Sikh candidate on Guru Granth Sahib – when everyone knows that a person has this much faith on their religious book, it should serve as a solid ample to decide the fate of such a plea.”

“This malicious petition has potential to open the doors for other such-minded to go with such unfounded pleas, which will ultimately lead the country a large scale chaos”, Khalsa said.

“People should cut across all religious and regional differences to denounce these acts vehemently”, he added. (GNS)
