PPP in infrastructure opportunity for entrepreneurs and investors: CEO SSCL

Seeks greater participation in stakeholder consultations; bidding process

Smart Parking, Bus Stops, water transport, Urban redevelopment among projects on offer

SRINAGAR, MARCH 4: The Srinagar Smart City Ltd is finalising policy for public private partnership in infrastructure and holding stakeholder consultations for initiating key infrastructure projects aimed at completion in few months to one year to being with.

Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar and Chief Executive Officer of Srinagar Smart City Ltd, informed that Public Private Partnership in infrastructure projects and civic services will now provide a rare opportunity for entrepreneurs and investors to associate with vital projects having assured returns. This will give a major boost to local economy and also facility creation of infrastructure.

Srinagar Smart City Ltd has empaneled consultant for Public Private Partnership and has called prospective investors and entrepreneurs for stakeholder consultations next week scheduled to be held in Srinagar to share the opportunities under the PPP component of Smart City project. The Requests for Proposals (RFPs) of many projects are expected to be initiated later this months.

Major projects to be opened for PPP are establishment of car parkings, boutique hotel, smart bus stops, water transport, redevelopment of areas including commercial complexes, museums, urban transport, tourism services, vending zones and several civic services delivery platforms.

The District Administration, Srinagar in coordination with concerned departments will make available land free from all encumbrances for all the approved / designated projects which will be incorporated as a component as per market value. The PPP consultant of SSCL has been entrusted to notify draft PPP policy of the company and seek stakeholder consultations/ suggestions.

Meanwhile, CEO SSCL (Deputy Commissioner) Srinagar urged the entrepreneurs and investors in Srinagar to avail the opportunity for creating state of the art infrastructure projects with committed returns, aimed at providing best civic services and amenities to the residents. More than 10 parking spaces are proposed to be developed under PPP as per the approved Smart City Mission project. In addition to this bus stops , vending zones , boutique hotel and other projects are also included. Srinagar Smart City Ltd has sought wider participation in stakeholder consultations as well as competing bidding process for these projects.

Earlier, a detailed presentation was made by the PPP consultant and the Technical and Administrative Support Unit for various viable and feasible projects to be taken up under PPP which are part of approved components and projects of Smart City Mission.
