Active Covid-19 Cases Less Than 1000 After Over 8 Months In J&K

23 Travelers, 2 CRPF Men Among 63 Fresh Infections Reported In 24 Hours

Srinagar, Jan 28 (GNS): Twenty-four travelers and two paramilitary CRPF men were among 63 new covid-19 cases reported in Jammu and Kashmir in the last 24 hours, taking the total infection tally to 124297.

Also, 149 more covid-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals—97 from Jammu Division and 52 from Kashmir. With this, they said, the number of active cases has reduced to 963, less than a thousand for the first time in eight and half months after the covid-19 pandemic broke. J&K reported 1000 cases for the first time on May 15 last year and since then the cases continued to mount before seeing a downward trend in the later stages of the previous year. So far 121402 have recovered while 1932 have died due to the virus.

Among the fresh cases, the officials told GNS that 18 were from Jammu Division and 45 from Kashmir

Valley.

Giving district-wise details, they said, Srinagar reported 26 cases, Baramulla 5, Budgam 0, Pulwama 1, Kupwara 3, Anantnag 5, Bandipora 1, Ganderbal 1, Kulgam 0, Shopian 3, Jammu 13, Udhampur 0, Rajouri 1, Doda 0, Kathua 0, Samba 3, Kishtwar 0, Poonch 1, Ramban 0 and Reasi 0.

A number of cases were confirmed at diagnostic laboratories of SKIMS Soura, CD and GMC Annatnag. The SKIMS cases include male (51) from CRPF’s Humhama Srinagar, male (35) from 82 Bn CRPF Ikhwan Hotel Srinagar, male (35) from Saloora Ganderbal, male (71) from Gulabagh, female (60) from Bilal Colony, male (37) from Sanatnagar, male (58) from NA Srinagar, male (57) from Humhama Budgam.

The Anantnag cases include male (18) from Noupora Anantnag and female (18) from Handwara Kupwara.

The CD cases include female (65) from Sonwar, male (21) from Mirzabagh, male (Na) from Lal Bazar, female (NA) from Zakura, male (45) from Botakadal, male (38) from Kathidarwaza, female (32) from Kanihama Budgam, male (32) from Zaindar Mohalla Habakadal, male (75) from Sumbal, female (70) from Pattan, female (86) from Qamarwari Srinagar. The GMC Anantnag cases include female (65) from Lazibal, female (50) from Hyderpora. (GNS)
