Uri (Baramulla), Nov 30:(GNS) An ambulance driver working with Primary Health Centre (PHC) Boniyar has alleged that he was thrashed by some local ‘goons’ on Sunday on reaching the hospital with the bodies of three persons who were deceased in a tragic incident in Lari area in Boniyar of Uri.
The ambulance driver Rafiq Khan in his complaint to BMO Boniyar has alleged that he was thrashed and abused ‘without any fault on his behalf’.
“I received the direction from BMO concerned to reach the incident spot and shift the bodies to hospital to which I abided promptly”, Khan maintains.
“However on reaching there I was thrashed and verbally abused by some local goons including Lala Ashraf”, Khan said adding that “Ashraf told me that I was late in reaching the incident spot.”
“Despite for the fact that I was on time and conveyed the same, Lala alongside some other persons abused and thrashed me”, Khan alleges.
“It was however timely intervention of hospital staff and some attendants who saved me from them,” Khan said.
“I serve in the health department 24/7 then why I have been thrashed,” Khan said adding “I have registered a complaint against those goons and want justice to be delivered sooner than later.”
A complaint letter on behalf of the alleged victim has been forwarded by BMO Boniyar to SHO Boniyar for information and necessary action against all the accused involved in the act.
However when contacted a senior police official in Uri told GNS that the ambulance driver was levelling ‘baseless’ allegations.
Unwittingly seconding the claims of the accused assailants the official said “Even then the health department driver was late in reaching the site of the incident.”
Pertinent to mention here that a woman and her two daughters had died due to asphyxiation in Lari Boniyar on Saturday night. (GNS)
