Handwara, Sep 19 (GNS): Forest department on Friday evening claimed to have seized a huge quantity of illicit timber from forest area of Krumhoora falling in range Magam of Handwara.
A Forest department official privy to the development told GNS the acting on a specific information received by the department regarding illicit timber in the forest area, a team from Control room Magam and Forest protection force was sent to the spot, which, as per the official, led to seizure of 108 CFT timber.
DFO Langate Abdul Hameed confirming the seizure told GNS that a case under relevant provisions of 6 Forest Act had been registered in this regard.
“No one will be allowed to damage the green gold in the area”, the official said adding “Strict action will be taken against the guilty persons.” (GNS)
