463 new cases take virus J&K’s tally past 24000 mark

Srinagar, August 8 (GNS): A senior IAS woman officer, 46 travelers and 36 uniformed men were among 463 new covid-19 infections in Jammu and Kashmir, taking the overall tally to 24390, officials said on Saturday.

Among them, 81 were reported from Jammu Division and 382 from Kashmir Valley including 36 uniformed— 13 each from army and CRPF, four from BSF, four from SSB and one from police.

Giving district wise breakup of the cases, sources told GNS Srinagar reported 178, Baramulla 20,

Pulwama 38, Kulgam 1, Shopian     6, Anantnag 23, Budgam 61, Kupwara 21, Bandipora 10, Ganderbal 24, Jammu 40, Rajouri 2, Kathua 15, Udhampur 1, Samba 7, Poonch       12 and Kishtwar 4.

In Kashmir, Srinagar tops the list with 6000 cases followed by Baramulla with 2093, Pulwama 1807, Kulgam 1594, Budgam 1523, Shopian 1514, Anantnag 1438, Kupwara 1230, Bandipora 972 and Ganderbal 654.

In Jammu division, Jammu district has 1513 cases, Rajouri 756, Ramban 576, Kathua 589, Udhampur 619, Samba 485, Doda 302, Poonch 265, Reasi 214 and Kishtwar 163.

According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 24390 positive cases, 7264 are Active Positive, 16667 have recovered and 459 have died; 34 in Jammu division and 425 in Kashmir division.

The Bulletin further said that out of 706780 test results available, 682390 samples have been tested as negative till August 08.

Additionally, till date 388741 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 42012 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7264 in isolation and 47304 under home surveillance. Besides, 291702 persons have completed their surveillance period.

According to the bulletin, of the total 24390 positive cases in J&K 4876 have been reported as travelers while 19514 as others.

The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metre from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.
